"The Ballad of Gregorio Cortez"
(1982)
Director: Robert M. Young
Director of Photography: Reynaldo Villalobos
A low-budget independent curio from the early 80s. Shot in a grainy film stock in a natural documentary style that creates great authenticity. An earnest, well-intentioned, admirable Rashomon- like western with a bevy of rough-faced character actors like James Gammon, Tom Bower, Bruce McGill, Brion James, Pepe Serna, William Sanderson, Barry Corbin, Ned Beatty, Jack Kehoe, and producer Edward James Olmos in a rare lead role. Bought at Videomatica.
